Thrive
ESP’s wellbeing initiative aims to promote a happy, healthy workforce who have a proactive approach to wellbeing across the team. It is run by our Health and Wellbeing Advisor & Mental Health First Aider, Karen Brewer, who is passionate about people. Everyone has a ‘go to’ contact for any issues or concerns they have to enable intervention at the earliest opportunity.

If employees feel valued and supported they’ll achieve more.
With this in mind, ESP developed the Thrive initiative to ensure that, not only do you get to judge the organisation annually, you have a dedicated person at the end of a phone on a bad day and, of course, a supportive team to lend a hand. To date, our Thrive initiative has included:
– Annual 1-2-1 wellbeing assessment covering four key areas and looking at both physical and mental health.
– Annual collation, analysis and evaluation of the general results of the assessment, picking up trends and patterns.
– Board meeting discussion (where everyone is present) where the annual results are discussed to help us understand our wellbeing, and what we can do to improve. Measures we have implemented include:
- Provision of counselling
- Menopause workshops (for all the team)
- Menopause online chat group.
- Monthly online yoga.
- Team ‘walk and lunch’ dates
- ‘Stress’ awareness training and discussion
- Mental Health First Aid presentation & discussion
The feedback from the team around the value of Thrive, which started in 2020, has been overwhelmingly positive. It continues to challenge us to improve the way we work together, helping each of us feel valued, supported and achieve our professional and personal goals.
